Biography
Camila Reyes is a Colombian-Mexican painter and printmaker whose figurative work centres the rituals of daily life in Latin American communities. Her jewel-toned canvases draw from Catholic iconography, folk traditions, and feminist theory. She is a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation grant and a Skowhegan fellow.
Artist Statement
Colour is my mother tongue. I use it to tell stories that have been whispered for generations—stories of women in kitchens, in gardens, in prayer. My paintings are portraits of devotion in its many forms.
